Water Ring Pelletizers
One of the more popular methods of pelletizing plastics, the Gamma Meccanica water ring pelletizers incorporate a set of rotating blade on the die face, which cut the strands of material into adjustable length pellets. Once cut the centrifugal force sends the pellet into a water stream that circulates the extruder die and then flows into a cooling bath. From the water bath the pellets are then transferred to a centrifuge dryer to dry the pellets.
Centrifuge Dryer
Gamma Meccanica water ring pelletizers are available in various different sizes and can be used to upgrade existing systems, as well as on new systems.
Underwater Pelletizers
Underwater Pelletizing Systems completely immerse the die and cutting unit in water in order to create a cool film on the granules as soon as they emerge from the die. Although not as widely used as water ring systems, the underwater design is on occasion necessary depending on the material being processed. Gamma Meccanica offers several different sized underwater pelletizer systems featuring different output capabilities.
Strand Pelletizers
Strand pelletizers are designed so that the material exits the extruder die in strands and are passed through a water bath. After the material is cooled down, the strands are fed into a rotating knife assembly where they are cut into pellets. Strand technology has been around for a long time, but is still used on occasion. Gamma Meccanica does offer strand pelletizing systems, when the application requires it.
