Corona Treating
Do I need a Bare Roll or Covered Roll Treater?
Bare Roll Treaters are designed to treat conductive substrates. As the name implies, the ground roll is bare metal, or in some cases covered with a conductive material. This allows the current from the corona treatment to be grounded directly to the ground roll and eliminates the risk of operators being shocked when coming in contact with the web. It also eliminates burns from arcing at the edges of the roll when in contact with other conductive rolls.
Covered Roll Treaters can only treat non conductive substrates. The dielectric covering is on the roll. This allows the electrode to be made of conductive materials, typically stainless steel. This enables adjustable treatment for application where you need to change treat width.
Should I use Corona, Flame, or Modified Atmospheric Treatment?
Corona, flame and atmospheric treating (Plasma) all have their strengths and limitations. One will be best for your application. Jemmco will be able to help you with the considerations of each process. Call at 262-512-9559 or email sales@jemmco.com.
